It feels great to know that Minister Bertram is willing to move ahead with midwifery and doula care options for PEI. Next Monday, our youngest daughter will turn 21. Emma was born while we were in Ottawa opening a new business, but the regret at not having a newborn “Islander” was offset by the joy at being able to experience a home birth under the care of an experienced midwife. Whenever I am in the national capital, I still drive by 178 Belmont Street and express my silent appreciation for such an auspicious start to our girl’s life.

I was sorry not to make it to the Baby Fair, but I hope that it all went well and that I will be able to participate in future opportunities to show support for BORN. All the best for a great summer! Lobie
